Nivea BB Cream 5in1 Blemish Balm review

Hey dolls,

the craze about BB Creams still continues and I am honestly a big fan of them since I tried this one from Nivea. At first I was a little sceptical about how this was gonna turn out, I know Nivea has been the first cream that ever touched my skin, because my mom has been using it like forever. I do love the famous blue cream too, but was just not sure about how a blemish balm would turn out from them. A little while ago Nivea sent me some products to test, one of them was the Nivea BB Cream 5in1 Blemish Balm which is available in the 2 shades "light" and "medium to dark". I received the darker shade, because I have a slightly tanned complexion.

Lately I have been using BB creams a lot during the day and for casual events when I was going for a more natural look. The difference compared to normal tinted day creams is not very big in my opinion, but I like them. When I go out in the evenings I still prefer foundation, otherwise I mostly use BB cremes.

What Nivea promises:
  • smoothes the skin and refines pores.
  • covers small blemishes like bumps, reddish areas, small wrinkles and signs of fatigue.
  • perfects and illuminates the complexion naturally.
  • provides the skin with long-lasting moisture.
  • protects the skin with SPF 10 against light-induced premature aging.

What I observed during my test phase:
  • Consistency:
It is not as smooth as a normal day cream, but not as thick as the typical Nivea in the blue tin box. Absorbs quickly and well into the skin and is easy to apply.
  • Application:
I just use my fingers and spread the cream all over my face. Nivea says not to use it around the eyes, but I am and it slightly covers my dark under eye circles so I don´t need as much concealer afterwards.
  • Fragrance:
The typical Nivea smell - reminds me of my childhood.
  • Price:
The tube holds 50ml and costs 7,99 Euros.

Now to the product. The coverage is great. My skin has a olive undertone and is slightly tanned as a mediterranean, also my t-zone absorbed the cream very well. I have no rednesses or pimples and the dark under eye circles have been slightly mitigated, so I still use some concealer over it. In general my skin appeared smoother, there is no shine on it. It lasts all day and my skin doesn´t feel dry at all. I do find the result on my skin very nice and natural. Also it doesn´t feel like I have anything on my skin. Therefore I would totally recommned this shade if you have naturally olive or tanned skin. Try the shades out in the drugstore if possible before purchasing.

But... if you are a light skin person I wouldn´t recommned it at all, it will be way too dark and you will look like you have a ton of it on your face.  It would be a disappointment. Maybe the lighter shade would be better for you. On the other hand in case you are strongly tanned it will definitely be too light for you. I do find the SPF10 a little bit too low though. Overall I have been impressed by this product and used it almost daily ever since I got it. The Nivea BB cream is very opaque almost like a normal foundation and feels like makeup without makeup, so it is great for a natural look.

Have you tried it and how was your experience comparing to other BB cremes?
